Does anyone bother with the equipment that has elemental resist? I specifically have the ice and fire shields and armors from ff4 in mind. Are they just wasting space if I have natural 5* items? I.e. is the higher resistance provided by the 5* items better than the % resistance for a specific element offered by those natural 3*?
I bother, but yeah, they're pretty much useless junk. There is no boss with consistent enough pattern of elemental blows to make that really worth the loss of some DEF/RES - besides, the resistance offered isn't that huge (20% or so).
