What can I shard Safely: An edit to a Guide! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Table of Contents: - Introduction - FF1 - FF2 - FF3 - FF4 - FF5 - FF6 - FF7 - FF8 - FF9 - FF10 - FF11 - FF12 - FF13 - FF14 - FF15 - FFT - FF0 - Conclusion / Credits / Changelog ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - Introduction We have a lot of equipment nowadays! The general rule is: If a weapon boosts an element, it is much better to use that weapon than a weapon that does not. If you're newer (and thus don't have a ton of resources to spend), this is a very good rule of thumb as you slowly amass artifacts. However, for Dreambreakers or Dragonking (or other realm content), veterans now have enough artifact stones to outfit all or most of a group in realm artifacts for the extra oomph, and are wondering 'Okay, with enough artifact stones, what can I safely kick out of my inventory?' Reddit has a fantastic resource with the answer to this question, which goes through every realm and answers that question. The Reddit guide is here, and all of the information for this guide comes from it (So full credit to CloudNomenclature! A good chunk of the conclusions are copy/pasted, yet): https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKeeper/comments/j4o1tj/what_to_shard_safely_a_guide_considering/ However, that guide does not include Hero Equipment. Hero Equipment (or Hero Artifacts, I'll abbreviate this HE sometimes) comes from the Labyrinth, which lands literally right now haha. Hero Equipment is in fact stronger than realm equipment in synergy (and stronger than elemental equipment in general), and that fixes some of the problematic clashes. I actually was originally just making this for my own personal use, but I figure it might help other people, so hey. This will thus list 'teams that clash'. Of course, every keeper knows their personal situation; if your dreambreaker team is set and does not have a clash, then you are good to do as you like. This guide (and the linked guide above) mostly jumps through the worst case scenario of what team you'd end up with. This guide also presumes that you may want to bring an off realm character, and thus may want an extra mind item for that character. I first go through the realm physically, magically, then mind-ly. Afterwards, I give conclusions for 'Okay, what do I shard'. Finally, for many realms I have the conclusion split between 'Early' and 'Late'. Early expects the first few months of labyrinth, and thus people who get their hero equipment quickly (Tifa gets hers right out the gate, Marcus comes in literally the next group, neither is that long of a wait). Late means it may be a bit of a pause before you get to this point (Relm comes very late. If you can wait for her to get her hero equipment, that alleviates some mind concerns, though!) Hopefully this resource helps! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - FF1 1 Physical - WoL, Garland, Wol, and Thief causes a clash. Fix with a weapon for one of them (probably Holy or Dark for WoL or Garland as they're mono-elemental). 1 Magical - Matoya and Meia cause a clash. (Echo also causes a clash, but there's a realm instrument only she can use anyway). If you're using both Matoya and Meia, you should save a water weapon for Meia. Both do get Season 2 Hero Equipment if you can wait. 1 Mind - Need one for off-realm. Early: Save physical (Holy or Dark preferred) relics (1 needed). You also need a magic weapon (water preferred, 1 needed) and 1 mind weapon. Late: Save physical (Holy or Dark preferred) relics (1 needed). You also need one mind weapon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - FF2 2 Physical, Magical - Is good in both cases. 2 Mind - Minwu and Hilda clash, and you need one for off realm. Conclusion: Save two mind weapons ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - FF3 3 Physical - The only clash is if you use a team of Luneth, Refia, Ingus, Onion Knight, and you want Onion Knight to go physical. If so, you'll need a physical weapon for one of the others (as Onion is multi-elemental) 3 Magical - Desch, Cloud of Darkness, Arc (If mag), and Onion Knight (if Mag). If that is your team of four, you'll need two more mag weapons at least, or possibly four if you're trying to use Onion Knight's rod LMR. Arc and Cloud of Darkness do get their Hero Equipment in season two if you can wait, this fixes the realm although it does still mean Onion can't use his LMR just yet. 3 Mind -Arc and Aria clash if Arc is going mind, and you'll also want a second mind option for the off realm. Both do get their Hero Equipment in season 2 if you can wait. Early: We need 2 mind weapons, 2 magic+rods for OK (anything helps, rods are for OK LMR usage) and 1 physical (fire for Refia or earth for Ingus preferred, very low chance of usage, only in case of physical OK). Late: We need 2 magic+rods for OK (anything helps, rods are for OK LMR usage) and 1 physical (fire for Refia or earth for Ingus preferred, very low chance of usage, only in case of physical OK). No mind off-realm needed if they can use staves. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - FF4 4 Physical: Is fine. Shard everything. 4 Magical: Palom, Tellah, Rubicante, Barbariccia/Vivalis will clash heavily, as there's only one rod between the four of them. (Golbez has his own axe, Rydia has her own whip). Thus if you're using more than one of those four, you'll want weapons for them. However, Tellah shows up in Season 1 Group A, Palom isn't too long afterwards (Season 1 Group C), and Rubicante is right behind him (Season 1 Group D). So that alleviates a lot of problems. 4 Mind: Rosa, Porom, FuSoYa cause a clash. (Paladin Cecil has his own sword). Thus if that's your team, then by default, you'll need two more mind weapons (One for whomever doesn't get an artifact, one for the off realmer). However, all three of the clashers have their own hero equipment at the end of Season 1 (Group D), while Paladin Cecil is at the end of Season 2 (Also Group D), so once that happens you don't even need anything for the off realm, haha, you'll just have extra mind gear lying around. Early: If you can't wait for season one group D, you'll need a weapon for Rubicante and Barbariccia/Vivalis if using both together, and will need two mind weapons. Early: If you /can/ wait for Season one group D, rainbow all weapons. No physical, magical, nor mind weapons needed. (There even are extra mind weapons for off realm healers!) Late: Rainbow all weapons. No physical, magical, nor mind weapons needed. (There even are extra mind weapons for off realm healers!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - FF5 5 Physical: Butz and Xezat don't exactly clash, but they both get sword LMRs. However, both /also/ get their hero equipment in Season 1 (Group B and C respectively), fixing that. 5 magical: GogoV and ExDeath clash. You'll need a weapon for one or the other if using both (Krile has a whip to herself). 5 mind: Lenna and ExDeath clash. You'll need another mind weapon if using both. Conclusion: Save magic dark or water relic (1 needed). Save 2 mind relics. Rainbow every physical relic from this realm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - FF6 Physical: FF6 is surprisingly fine here. You can try to check for small 3% bonuses in various things (make sure you give Gau the fist!), but you're safe to rainbow all FF6 stuff. Magical: Terra, Strago, Gogo, and Kefka clash, and there's only two relics here. If you're using all four, you want two more relics (also it helps to give Gogo the sword for his 9% sword bonus!), so probably water or dark relics. Most ideally, a dark instrument for Kefka. Mind: Mog & Relm clash. Mog doesn't demand mind quite so hard, but if you want to gear him up with one you'll need two extra mind weapons - one for Mog and one for the off realmer. Relm /does/ get her hero equipment, just late (Season 2, Group C). Conclusion: Rainbow any physical relic. Save magical weapons (water and dark instrument preffered, 2 needed). Save mind weapons, 2 needed until the end of season 2 when you only will need one.
