    - Introduction

    We have a lot of equipment nowadays!

    The general rule is: If a weapon boosts an element, it is much better to use that weapon than a weapon that does not. If you're newer (and thus don't have a ton of resources to spend), this is a very good rule of thumb as you slowly amass artifacts.

    However, for Dreambreakers or Dragonking (or other realm content), veterans now have enough artifact stones to outfit all or most of a group in realm artifacts for the extra oomph, and are wondering 'Okay, with enough artifact stones, what can I safely kick out of my inventory?'

    Reddit has a fantastic resource with the answer to this question, which goes through every realm and answers that question. The Reddit guide is here, and all of the information for this guide comes from it (So full credit to CloudNomenclature! A good chunk of the conclusions are copy/pasted, yet):

    https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKeeper/comments/j4o1tj/what_to_shard_safely_a_guide_considering/

    However, that guide does not include Hero Equipment. Hero Equipment (or Hero Artifacts, I'll abbreviate this HE sometimes) comes from the Labyrinth, which lands literally right now haha. Hero Equipment is in fact stronger than realm equipment in synergy (and stronger than elemental equipment in general), and that fixes some of the problematic clashes.

    I actually was originally just making this for my own personal use, but I figure it might help other people, so hey.

    This will thus list 'teams that clash'. Of course, every keeper knows their personal situation; if your dreambreaker team is set and does not have a clash, then you are good to do as you like. This guide (and the linked guide above) mostly jumps through the worst case scenario of what team you'd end up with.

    This guide also presumes that you may want to bring an off realm character, and thus may want an extra mind item for that character.

    I first go through the realm physically, magically, then mind-ly. Afterwards, I give conclusions for 'Okay, what do I shard'.

    Finally, for many realms I have the conclusion split between 'Early' and 'Late'. Early expects the first few months of labyrinth, and thus people who get their hero equipment quickly (Tifa gets hers right out the gate, Marcus comes in literally the next group, neither is that long of a wait). Late means it may be a bit of a pause before you get to this point (Relm comes very late. If you can wait for her to get her hero equipment, that alleviates some mind concerns, though!)

    Hopefully this resource helps!

    - FF1

    1 Physical - WoL, Garland, Wol, and Thief causes a clash. Fix with a weapon for one of them (probably Holy or Dark for WoL or Garland as they're mono-elemental).

    1 Magical - Matoya and Meia cause a clash. (Echo also causes a clash, but there's a realm instrument only she can use anyway). If you're using both Matoya and Meia, you should save a water weapon for Meia. Both do get Season 2 Hero Equipment if you can wait.

    1 Mind - Need one for off-realm.

    Early: Save physical (Holy or Dark preferred) relics (1 needed). You also need a magic weapon (water preferred, 1 needed) and 1 mind weapon.

    Late: Save physical (Holy or Dark preferred) relics (1 needed). You also need one mind weapon.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF2
    2 Physical, Magical - Is good in both cases.
    2 Mind - Minwu and Hilda clash, and you need one for off realm.
    Conclusion: Save two mind weapons
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF3

    3 Physical - The only clash is if you use a team of Luneth, Refia, Ingus, Onion Knight, and you want Onion Knight to go physical. If so, you'll need a physical weapon for one of the others (as Onion is multi-elemental)

    3 Magical - Desch, Cloud of Darkness, Arc (If mag), and Onion Knight (if Mag). If that is your team of four, you'll need two more mag weapons at least, or possibly four if you're trying to use Onion Knight's rod LMR. Arc and Cloud of Darkness do get their Hero Equipment in season two if you can wait, this fixes the realm although it does still mean Onion can't use his LMR just yet.

    3 Mind -Arc and Aria clash if Arc is going mind, and you'll also want a second mind option for the off realm. Both do get their Hero Equipment in season 2 if you can wait.

    Early: We need 2 mind weapons, 2 magic+rods for OK (anything helps, rods are for OK LMR usage) and 1 physical (fire for Refia or earth for Ingus preferred, very low chance of usage, only in case of physical OK).

    Late: We need 2 magic+rods for OK (anything helps, rods are for OK LMR usage) and 1 physical (fire for Refia or earth for Ingus preferred, very low chance of usage, only in case of physical OK). No mind off-realm needed if they can use staves.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF4
    4 Physical: Is fine. Shard everything.
    4 Magical: Palom, Tellah, Rubicante, Barbariccia/Vivalis will clash heavily, as there's only one rod between the four of them. (Golbez has his own axe, Rydia has her own whip). Thus if you're using more than one of those four, you'll want weapons for them. However, Tellah shows up in Season 1 Group A, Palom isn't too long afterwards (Season 1 Group C), and Rubicante is right behind him (Season 1 Group D). So that alleviates a lot of problems.
    4 Mind: Rosa, Porom, FuSoYa cause a clash. (Paladin Cecil has his own sword). Thus if that's your team, then by default, you'll need two more mind weapons (One for whomever doesn't get an artifact, one for the off realmer). However, all three of the clashers have their own hero equipment at the end of Season 1 (Group D), while Paladin Cecil is at the end of Season 2 (Also Group D), so once that happens you don't even need anything for the off realm, haha, you'll just have extra mind gear lying around.
    Early: If you can't wait for season one group D, you'll need a weapon for Rubicante and Barbariccia/Vivalis if using both together, and will need two mind weapons.
    Early: If you /can/ wait for Season one group D, rainbow all weapons. No physical, magical, nor mind weapons needed. (There even are extra mind weapons for off realm healers!)
    Late: Rainbow all weapons. No physical, magical, nor mind weapons needed. (There even are extra mind weapons for off realm healers!)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF5

    5 Physical: Butz and Xezat don't exactly clash, but they both get sword LMRs. However, both /also/ get their hero equipment in Season 1 (Group B and C respectively), fixing that.

    5 magical: GogoV and ExDeath clash. You'll need a weapon for one or the other if using both (Krile has a whip to herself).

    5 mind: Lenna and ExDeath clash. You'll need another mind weapon if using both.

    Conclusion: Save magic dark or water relic (1 needed). Save 2 mind relics. Rainbow every physical relic from this realm.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF6
    Physical: FF6 is surprisingly fine here. You can try to check for small 3% bonuses in various things (make sure you give Gau the fist!), but you're safe to rainbow all FF6 stuff.
    Magical: Terra, Strago, Gogo, and Kefka clash, and there's only two relics here. If you're using all four, you want two more relics (also it helps to give Gogo the sword for his 9% sword bonus!), so probably water or dark relics. Most ideally, a dark instrument for Kefka.
    Mind: Mog & Relm clash. Mog doesn't demand mind quite so hard, but if you want to gear him up with one you'll need two extra mind weapons - one for Mog and one for the off realmer. Relm /does/ get her hero equipment, just late (Season 2, Group C).
    Conclusion: Rainbow any physical relic. Save magical weapons (water and dark instrument preffered, 2 needed). Save mind weapons, 2 needed until the end of season 2 when you only will need one.
    - FF7
    This is by far the longest realm, haha.
    Ff7 Realm Artifacts:
    Physical: Sword, Katana, Spear, Fist, Thrown, Gun
    Magical: Fist, Gun
    Mind: Rod, Instrument
    List of Clashes:
    Barret, Vincent, Rufus
    Tifa, Rude (if physical)
    Yuffie, Sephiroth, Reno (magical), Rude (Physical)
    Cid7, Angeal, Shelke
    RedXIII, Reno (Magical), Rude (magical)
    This is fixed by various FF7ers getting their hero equipment, if you can wait for it!
    When FF7ers get their hero equipment:
    Season 1, Group A: Tifa, Rude, RedXIII
    Season 1, Group B: Cid7
    Season 2, Group A: Barret, Vincent, Sephiroth
    Season 2, Group C: Shelke
    Season 2, Group D: Angeal
    And at the end of all that, FF7 becomes good physically and magically. You'll still need one more mind weapon (There are two, one rod for Aeris and one instrument for Cait Sith, but you'll need one more for an off-realmer).
    That is, however, too many combinations to really look at haha. So sadly for FF7, look at what clashes you are considering, decide if you can wait to the end to get them fixed, and if not save for those people haha. It helps that Tifa, Rude, RedXIII, and Cid7 all come either immediately or very quickly!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF8

    Physical: Raijin wants to use a lightning hammer, although if you can wait for Ward (Season 2 Group B) you can at least give Raijin the artifact spear. Both Laguna and Irvine get big bonii to guns and there's only one gun for them, so if using both you will need an ice gun or a fire gun. A team of Loser, Seifer, Kiros, and Zell will clash, and using Loser and Seifer together in general will cause a clash. The best solution is a fire fist for Zell (Kiros is dual-elemental which would make him harder), then swords for one of the gunbladers (Either Fire and Ice for Loser, or Fire and Dark for Seifer).

    Magically: Loser gets her hero equipment immediately, Edea is in season 1 (group C) and thus not much of a wait, while Quistis gets a whip just for her. Thus, if using Ultimecia and Fujin in the same party, you'll need a weapon for one of them (preferably wind for Fujin).

    Mind: Just need one off-realm.

    Conclusion: Save a elemental bonus Raijin hammer (Unless him using the spear is okay once Ward gets his in season 2), one ice or fire gun, one fire fist, save 2 swords, either a fire and ice one or a fire and dark one. Save one magic weapons (For Ultimecia or Fujin, preferably wind for Fujin). Save a mind weapon.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF9
    9 Physical: Zidane, Steiner, Marcus, Beatrix causes a clash. Marcus gets his hero equipment very quickly which helps. Both Steiner and Beatrix get their hero equipment late, but once they do you're set for physical in the realm. Before that, you'll have to save a sword (Wind or Holy preferably as Steiner is tri-elemental).
    9 Magical: Garnet, Vivi, Eiko, Kuja causes a big clash as there is only one weapon for the four. Eiko gets her hero equipment swiftly, which helps. Garnet's hero equipment comes notably later (Season 2, Group C), though. Vivi is multi-elemental (and thus probably wants the rod), so this team requires saving a dark and a lightning weapon early, then later just dark for Kuja.
    9 Mind: Note that Eiko's hero equipment (the weapon anyway) has poor mind and thus is not ideal for her being a healer, but there are two healing options in the realm anyway. If Quina is going to have a rod, then you still need one mind relic for the off realm (Unless Eiko is using her HE weapon anyway).
    Early Conclusion: Save at least one sword (wind or holy). Save at least 2 magic weapons (Dark and lightning preferred), and one Mind weapon.
    Late Conclusion: Save one magic weapon for Kuja (or several for Vivi). Save one mind weapon. Shatter all physical weapons.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF10

    10 Physical: Tidus, Wakka, Rikku, Jecht is the only clash (Only Kimahri can use the spear, and as a note Auron should use the katana if possible). One water weapon fixes this, as does waiting until Season 2 Group B for both Wakka and Rikku to get their hero equipment.

    10 Magical: Yuna, Lulu, Braska, and Seymour all fight over one mag rod. Braska and Lulu get their hero equipment in season 2 (Group A and Group B respectively), which lessens the requirement to 'Yuna or Seymour' if you can wait.

    10 Mind: Just need one off realm.

    Early Conclusion: Save one water weapon for Tidus, Wakka, or Rikku. Save magic weapons, at least 3, holy, fire or dark preferred. Save one mind weapon.

    Late Conclusion: Shatter physical weapons. Save a magic weapons for an offensive Yuna or Seymour (Holy or Dark). Save 1 mind weapon.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF11
    11 Physical: Ayame, Curilla, and Zeid cause a clash, and also cause some headaches if you have two of them, Prishe, and Lion. You'll need weapons for two of the three (Dark Sword, Holy Sword, Ice Katana). Lion, Prishe, and then Curilla do get their hero equipment which fixes the realm physically, though. All are Season 2 (then group B, C, and D respectively), so if you can wait that helps.
    11 Magical: One staff, one Shantotto, shatter all magical gear.
    11 Mind: Off realm.
    Early Conclusion: Save 1 mind weapon, shatter every magic weapon. For physical: 2 weapons for two from these three: Ayame, Curilla and Zeid (Dark Sword, Holy Sword or Ice Katana).
    Late Conclusion: Save 1 mind weapon, shatter the rest.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF12

    12 Physical: Four of Vaan, Vayne, Basch, Gabranth, and Reks will clash. (Fran and Balthier have a bow/gun that only they can use). Vaan comes very quickly (Season 1, Group B), but then it's a long wait for Basch (Season 2, Group D), so you'll need gear for three of the latter four.

    12 Magical: Ashe and Vayne both clash over the sword, so you'll need a lightning weapon or a dark weapon.

    12 Mind: Penelo and Larsa clash, and you need a mind weapon for the off realm.

    Early Conclusion: Save weapons for three of these four: Gabranth (Dark), Reks (Lightning), Vayne(Dark), Basch (Holy/Fire). Save one magic weapon either lighting or dark. Save two mind weapons.

    Late Conclusion: Save weapons for either Gabranth (Dark), Reks (Lightning), or Vayne(Dark). Save one magic weapon either lighting or dark. Save two mind weapons.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF13
    13 Physical: Lightning, Sazh, Fang, Noel clash (presuming you want Sazh to do damage). Sazh does show up in Season 2, Group A - until then you'll have to save a physical weapon in there for someone, most likely the mono elemental Fang.
    13 Magical: 4 artifacts, 4 users, all is good.
    13 Mind: One for off realm.
    Early Conclusion: Shatter everything except the usual mind weapon and at least one physical relic (wind spear preferred)
    Late Conclusion: Shatter everything except the usual mind weapon.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF14

    14 Physical: If you ignore Minfilia as she's support, the realm is set.

    14 Magical: If you're using a team of mages, you'll need to save a fire weapon for Papalymo and an ice weapon for Ysayle to cover the party. Y'shtola and Alisae are multi-elemental, while Alphinaud's book use means he'll probably have that instead.

    14 mind: One for off realm, or two if you want to have Minfillia have one.

    Conclusion: Shatter everything physical. Save up to two mind weapons (one if we ignore Minfilia). Save at least two magic weapons; fire and ice for Papalymo and Ysayle preferred.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF15
    15 Physical: Save an earth sword for Gladiolus, as he has bonus materia that conflicts with the multi-elemental Noctis, and you're set.
    15 Magical: There are no magical relics in the realm! So save one for Lunafreya.
    15 Mind: Thrown for Iris, Rod for Lunafreya, just save one for the off realm.
    Conclusion: Save one earth sword, magical weapons for Luna and mind weapons for offrealm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FFT

    T physical: A lot of swordies here. Save two holy swords and two earth swords if you're covering all your bases.

    T Magical: Rapha (Rafa), Malak (Marach), and Montblanc together will clash. You'll need to save a lightning weapon for one of them.

    T Mind: Ovelia, Alma, Orran (Olan) will all clash, and the off realm mind weapon is needed.

    Conclusion: Save at least 2 holy swords, if you want coverage for every element of every character, add two dark swords and two earth swords. Save a lighting weapon if you want to use the three mages. Save 2 mind weapons.

    (And as a note, Meliadoul and Montblanc get strong toys in the future)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    - FF0
    0 Physical: Queen and Machina clash, while King and Cater clash. If you can wait until Season 2, Group C, both Queen and King get hero equipment which fixes the realm. Otherwise you'll need a weapon for one of each pair (Lightning or Earth sword, then probably a Lightning gun as Cater is multi-elemental).
    0 Magical: Ace and Seven have their weapons, the realm is good.
    0 Mind: Deuce and Rem both have their weapons, but one more is needed for the off realm.
    Early Conclusion: We need at least a weapons the sword users (lighting or earth sword) and a gun (lighting preferred). Save one mind weapon for the off realm character.
    Late Conclusion: Save one mind weapon for the off realm character, shatter the remainder.
    - Conclusion / Credits / Changelog
    And one last post in case I lament not having it!
    Again, all credit goes to the following linked guide, made by CloudNomenclature. I'm really just taking that information and adding a little to it based on hero equipment (and formatting it so that it's more helpful to me personally, haha).
    https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKeeper/comments/j4o1tj/what_to_shard_safely_a_guide_considering/
    Hopefully this helps! PDF is coming on this post.
    8/6: Slight edit - Eiko's hero equipment armour is fine for whatever role she's doing (It boosts both mag and mind). It's just her hero equipment weapon that has lousy mind. This doesn't change anything, though, just that information is nudged.
    I will need to put these into the above information, haha, but I'm not sure when that will happen as I'm super busy now, so for now!
    Here are what changes through Season 3 (and from the initial announcement of Season 4). I'll also try to get a list of 'these are people with HE in general' as this guide can be useful for that purpose now that people may want to make some artifacts.
    1 - Garland (S3GA) fixes the realm. Thief (S3GD) also is present a bit later.
    3 - Luneth shows up in (S3GD), fixing physical. Also Refia is announced for Season 4.
    5 - ExDeath (S3GA) Fixes the mag and mind clashes, although you'll still need mind off realm
    6 - Strago (S3GD) is late but helps magically. Terra is announced for Season 4.
    7 - Is technically fixed already by the end of the nonsense minus off realm, but (S3GE) has FF7 as its focus which /definitely/ fixes it (and comes with a mind item for both Aeris and Cait Sith).
    8 - Seifer shows up (S3G1), Raijin gets his hammer (S3GC)and Zell is announced for Season 4. Fujin is a bit late (S3GD). When all these happen that fixes the realm physically and magically, although you need mind.
    12 - Gabranth and Reks show up which helps the physical part. Ashe and Vayne also show up for the magical part, and then both Penelo and Larsa for the mind part, so the realm gets fixed all at once (S3GB)
    14 - Papalymo is announced for Season 4, which still leaves an ice weapon for Ysayle needed.
    T - Only Delita gets FFT equipment of any sort, and he's announced for Season 4.
